Welcome to Señora Ziegler, a blog written by…Señora Ziegler. If you are someone from the teaching world, I am so happy you are here! If you are someone from my personal life, I am happy you are here, too….but I know what you are thinking……this girl starts new blogs like every 10 months…oops. In my defense, I am going into this new blogging journey with more insight and experiences than before, and my expectations are incredibly low for how much I will write and how many people read. I promise that this blog is going to be different and will actually stick around.
In my previous attempts, my expectation was to get paid partnerships overnight and people would want to pay me for resources that I made for my classroom. Here is where that went wrong:
- The state of Ohio is really really picky about TPT creators and how they use materials. Technically, my district owns any material that I create for my classroom and I legally could get in trouble if I profit off of it on TPT. Would they sue me? No. Am I taking that chance? Absolutely not.
- LOL who did I think I was?? I laugh when I think about the resources I made my 1st year and they aren’t even something I consider using anymore. No one was going to pay for a poorly made worksheet.
What is different this time?
This blog comes from the fact that I have a lot of opinions and deep thoughts about education and no place to share them. Over the last 6 months, I have started to participate in #LangChat which is an online Twitter forum that takes place every Thursday night. The questions and answers are thought-provoking but often times I leave feeling like I could write a novel about my answers to the questions and share tweets that inspire me to be a better teacher.
Another source of inspiration came from Sara-Elizabeth Cottrell, the queen of Musicuentos and my boss at Calico Spanish. Through my work as the social media coordinator of Calico, I have gained more experience about writing quality content and have a few post ideas in the works for that blog. In our bi-weekly meetings, we chat about teaching, pedagogy, and the language teaching community and I always leave feeling like I need to write her words of wisdom down somewhere. She suggested that I start a blog and well….when Musicuentos herself says you should…then you should.
Lastly, I have 0 expectation that this blog will be my new career. I went into my other blogs thinking that I was going to “make it big” and honestly that isn’t why I am writing this one at all. I just want a place to share my thoughts and experiences with others who may have some interest in reading.
What will this blog contain?
Teaching can feel lonely sometimes when you are a little fish swimming in the big acronym pond of CI/TPRS/CLT/TPR/etc. I want this blog to be a place where I share some hot takes on hot topics in language education, elaborate on what I am doing in my classroom, and share FREE resources if people are interested. I would even be open to having this blog be open to guest writers, both public and anonymous, to share thoughts and feelings…like Lady Whistledown, but nicer.
Like Lady Whistledown, but nicer.

Another big aspect will be talking about the curriculum and activities that I have used and tried in my classroom from some really talented creators. TPT is not a giant I want to tackle, but supporting those who have successfully done so is exactly what I want to do.
I would be lying if I said that I wouldn’t love to make extra cash for my classroom, so occasionally you may see some affiliate marketing but I will ALWAYS disclose that in the post. This blog is not going to be a marketing website with 100000 ads!
What happens now?
Now, I need to write. I have 10 blog posts drafted and it is time to begin therapeutically writing. If you have made it this far, tell me what you want to see here! Lastly, make sure you subscribe so you don’t miss any content and give me a follow on Instagram to see more content!
